Amanda Whitewood BSC (HONS) NT, Dip DT, MBANT is a Nutritional Therapist and was a Registered General Nurse. She is on the council for the British Association for applied nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and Chair of the Training and Standards Committee BANT. She is also involved in accreditation of courses in nutritional therapy. She was involved with the government organization 'Skills for Health' in writing the National Occupational Standards for Nutritional Therapy. She worked as a nurse for 5 years specialising in oncology, but had to leave as a result of a back injury.

She furthered her medical career joining the pharmaceutical company Roche whereby she obtained a wealth of knowledge in all medical fields including heart disease, immunomodulatory therapies, blood pressure treatments, arthritis, Parkinson's disease and anaesthetics . Roche trained her in sales and marketing over her 6 years to a high standard. She launched new innovative drugs e.g. Vascace and Neupogen, providing her with experience in product marketing, developed skills in market research and communication.

Eventually specialising as a Biotherapy Consultant in advising the orthodox medical profession in treatments for oncology, haematology, AIDS and hepatitis. This led to her being Roche's top representative for her outstanding sales achievement within the Biotherapy market. She left Roche to start her family, and when her children developed food allergies and colitis she had a hunger to understand why. She embarked on a diploma in nutrition at the Institute of Optimum  Nutrition, Putney and then a degree in nutrition at the University of Westminster. In her continual desire to help others she set up a milk allergy association to support mothers with allergic children, and researched into why infants are born with food allergies in her own study. To promote this information she gives regular talks to groups including healthcare professionals. She has run her own nutrition practice for 9 years and has worked in the polyclinic at the University  of Westminster.

She runs her own business Absolute Nutrition centred locally in Hawkhurst, and was a consultant for Dr Marilyn Glenville at Viveka working with Dr Yehoudi Gordan in his London practice, specialising in female hormones and fertility. She has been invited as a guest lecturer at the University  of Westminster and other private nutrition colleges and regularly attends nutritional debates in the Houses of Parliament and the Federation for Integrated Health. She is heavily involved in the regulation of nutritional therapy and is very motivated to see it develop into mainstream health care.
